Everthing Supa Inc
Good afternoon, my name is Tim Howard, founder of EverythingSupa Inc, a non-profit organization based in Ward 7 and we have a youth program called DCHoopStars which uses basketball to expose youth to a variety of careers based around basketball.
As a high school student I loved playing basketball but when I realized that playing in the NBA wasn't a possibility I found ways to stay involved in the game I love. I did, announcing, print journalism, photography, and coaching. Everything I did was not only fun, but educational, and opened up doors to have a better high school experience and give me more options for future careers. Unfortunately without the needed structure I didn't go from high school to college and into a stable career but as an adult I didn't let that stop me. I used public access TV here in DC to create a TV show called CityHoopsTV that covered basketball in DC with my first show highlighting Girls Basketball which won the DCIAA Championship that year led by All-Met Tia Hall and Coach Frank Oliver.
I want to use my experiences in the world of DC basketball, journalism, and management and bring DCHoopStars to your school and get students involved in the same things and help turn it into future careers and opportunities for them to make money while in high school.
The program not only has journalism and will have students reporting on the boys and girls games, through print journalism but also use todays technology to have students doing a podcast and social media content creation based on the basketball teams. Also teach them how to take pictures and videos that can be used for social media and YouTube or the schools website which will allow them to learn a skill that they can use in the future. The program also will teach about game operations and help make the basketball experience better. Those who are artists can use their talents to create graphics for merchandise sells and create advertisements to help promote the basketball teams. Those students who have other talents can be used as halftime performers not only a Woodson but students can help them perform at other schools as well to expand their talents and abilities beyond Woodson. Lastly students can learn about sales and marketing as they develop ways to increase the fan base, ticket sales, and corporate sponsorships for the basketball programs.
This program which is fully funded by EverythingSupa Inc, can be used to get more students involved in an extra curricular activity that not only give them opportunities for career exploration but also help create a more positive atmosphere throughout the school and improve the basketball programs, raise money for the school and give a stronger presence throughout the community and throughout the city.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. I am more than excited to work with your school and basketball programs to help open doors for youth in our community.

MIKVA CHALLENGE DC
Mikva Challenge DC is now accepting applications for our TWO unique citywide, civic engagement, high school programs that provide an opportunity for DC students to elevate their voice in local decision-making with other youth changemakers while earning over 50+ community service hours, going on trips out of the city, and receiving a stipend! We need your help in sharing these incredible opportunities with your students.
The Justice, Safety, and Elections Council and the Citywide Student Voice Council are 8-month dynamic leadership development experiences that develop youth to be empowered, informed, and active citizens who will promote a just and equitable society. Students will create and advocate for youth-based solutions to the pressing issues that impact them, their communities, schools, city, and the nation. These Youth Councils will research solutions to address key local issues through reading local and national case studies, speaking with experts, interviewing/surveying youth residents across DC, and discussing their own personal testimonies.
Justice, Safety, and Elections Council Applications and the Citywide Student Voice Council Applications are both DUE on September 15.
