Yearly PLAN for College Bound seniors

August

  1. Talk to your College and Career Counselor about your plan for after high school.

  2. Research colleges at https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/college-search

  3. Create a list of colleges and careers you are interested in.

  4. Start saving $100 a month for end of the school year college enrollment fees and housing deposit.

  5. Practice at SATpractice.org

  6. Write a Rough Draft of your College Application and Scholarship Application Essays. Start with an essay brainstorming activity.


September

  1. Apply for College through www.CommonBlackCollegeApp.com or directly to the college site/

  2. Request Letters of REcommendations

  3. Work on your College Essays

  4. Apply to at least 2 SMART colleges by the end of September

  5. Send to your counselors a list of colleges you applied so they can send your transcripts out.

  4. Talk to your College and Career Counselor to finalize your chosen post-secondary pathway.
