How to Login to Naviance? (Naviance is your College and Career Portal for school).

Option 1: Go directly to the Naviance site (see link below)

  1. Go to http://student.naviance.com/hdws - Then if prompted, Search school name: “H.D. Woodson” (don’t forget the periods in H.D. Woodson).

  2. Click "Student"

  3. Click "Continue with Clever"

  4. Search for School on Clever login page: Woodson, H.D. HS

  5. Click Student and Staff Login: Login with your StudentID@students.k12.dc.us and your password that you use for Canva.


Option 2: Login to Clever 1st

    • Username – Student ID@students.k12.dc.us

    • Password – The one you selected for Office 365/Canvas

  • Once you are in Clever, type Naviance in the search box.

How to complete your Postsecondary Planning Survey in Naviance?

  1. After you have logged into Naviance, in the upper left corner click on the 3 lines to see the menu.

  2. Scroll down and click on "About Me".

  3. Scroll down through the "About Me" drop-down until you see the "Surveys" section.

  4. Under the Surveys section, select "Surveys from your School"

  5. You should see a list of all available surveys created and shared with you by your school.

  6. Find the survey titled "2021-22 Post-Secondary Survey". Unless you have previously started the survey, it should say "NOT Started" under the survey name. Click on the post-secondary survey.

  7. Answer every question in the survey that you can.

  8. CLICK SUBMIT. (Your answers DO NOT save automatically.)

  9. If you are unsure whether your survey submission was successful, you can return to the "Surveys from Your School" page and click "Surveys Completed" in the lower left corner. Your completed post-secondary survey should appear there if you submitted it.

  5. What are my values?

    1. Everyone has values or things that are important to them, such as financial security, social justice or work-life balance. These values can help you decide what type of career to pursue. Here instance, consider a career that pays well if you value financial security, and consider a 9-to-5 job if you want to achieve work-life balance.

  6. What education or training do I need?

    1. Certain careers require advanced education and financial investment. For example, you may need eight to 12 years of education and training to be a doctor, but you could earn a hospitality management bachelor in four years. Think about the time and money required to pursue a career as you make your decision.

  7. Are there jobs available in this career?

    1. Search Indeed or Career Coach DC live job postings to list out the companies that are hiring for this career.

  8. How much money do I want to make?

  9. Where do I want to live?

  10. Why do I want to pursue this career?

How to search Career Clusters in Naviance?

Task: On Naviance, click "Careers" at the top. Then click "Explore Clusters and Pathways". Then Follow the instructions below and write down your answers on a sheet of paper.

  • What is 1 of your top favorite career clusters?

  • This career cluster is focused on what?

  • What are some related Pathways under this career cluster?

  • Now pick 1 of those pathways that you may be interested in and answer this question. What do employees in this pathway do (this can be found under the overview once you click the pathway you want)?

  • What is the employment outlook for this career pathway?

  • What are the typical credentials of this career pathway?

  • What are the related occupations? What is the education requirement and median/average salary for those related occupations?

  • What are the related majors?

  • Under the plan of study, what Career and Technical Courses should you take during postsecondary education (Year 13, 14, 15, 16+)?
