Remember that the www.CommonApp.org can be used to apply to over 900 colleges. So these essay prompts can apply for each of the schools that accept the common app.

The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?
Reflect on something that someone has done for you that has made you happy or thankful in a surprising way. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you?
Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?
Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you've already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design.
ADD Your Colleges to Naviance
Once you have completed a college application, it's important that you update your Naviance "Colleges I have Applied to" list. When you add the college, you will also click the button to "Request Transcripts". This lets your College and Career Coordinator know that you have applied this college and that you want us to send your transcripts to that school. Here is a video that breaks down how you add colleges you applied to, to your Naviance account.
If it is the beginning of the school year, select that you want to send your INITIAL TRANSCRIPT.
After your Semester 1 grades get posted, then you can request to send your MID-YEAR TRANSCRIPT.
At the end of the school year, when all your grades are in, then you can request to send your FINAL TRANSCRIPT.
Send SAT scores to Colleges
Unfortunately, we cannot send your SAT scores to your colleges. You will have to do that yourself by logging into your www.CollegeBoard.org account. Here is a video that walks you through that process.
How to PAY for College Applications?
Students who attend HD qualify for application fee waivers for the majority of college applications. This is done through 3 ways.
1st. Black Common App fee waiver code
For students applying to the https://commonblackcollegeapp.com/ you will have the opportunity to use a fee waiver code at the end of your application. After you choose at least 4 colleges and submit your application, you will be taken to the fee page. If you have the $20, you can pay via credit card. If you don't, you should use the following code: osse2022
Make sure you put that code under the Promotional Code box and not the affiliate code box.
2nd. Common Application Fee Waiver
For students applying to the https://www.commonapp.org/ you will need to:
A. Sign your FERPA release in your Common App account and
B. Link your Common App to Naviance.
This video below will take you through these steps.
3rd. NACAC Fee Waiver
If you are applying to a college that is not through the Common App or the Black Common App, you will need to ask your College and Career Coordinator to send the NACAC Fee waiver when they send your transcript. Head to your College and Career Coordinator's office to fill out the top of the NACAC fee waiver form, so that it can be sent out with your transcript. Remember that in order to request a transcript, you will have had to add that college to your Naviance Account via the instructions in the video above.
PS. One more thing. There are a small number of colleges that don't accept any of these 3 fee waivers. If that is the case, you have 2 options.
Option #1: Pay the application fee out of pocket.
Option #2: Email the colleges admissions office to see if you can request an application fee waiver directly from them.
