    • 12-15 month program to prepare you for a career as a Registered Medical Assistant

      • What do Medical Assistants do? They work alongside doctors and nurses in medical offices, clinics, and hospitals.

      • Gain hands-on practice with clinical lab skills like drawing blood, giving injections, and taking blood pressure

      • Gain proficiency in administrative skills, including updating patient records and coding insurance forms.

      • 160-hour externship in a local clinic, hospital, or doctor's office

      • test prep sessions to help you with preparing for the Registered Medical Assistant exam

UDC Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning - FREE

  • Healthcare-Direct Care and Healthcare Administration (minimum CASAS needed Reading 239 and Math 236+)

  • Take non-credit classes in preparation for regional and national certification

    • Eligibility

      • 1st Identification: DC Driver's License or Non-Driver Identification Car or Passport

      • 2nd Proof of Residency: Pay stub or High school Transcripts or DC Benefits transcript or DC Tax Return or DMV Motor Vehicle Registration certificate or W2

      • 3rd Sign up to take their CASAS exam and score a passing score.

Programs that Cost Money

  • (In addition to applying to these programs, you will need to complete the free application for financial aid at www.FAFSA.ed.gov and apply for the DC Tuition assistance grant if you are a DC resident www.dconeapp.dc.gov). This will allow you to qualify for scholarships, grants, and loans to pay for your classes.
